The Deity of War – Chapter 156

Chapter 156: The Wounded Beast

The little thing jumped onto the silver beast, and turned to Qi Ying with a very humanized pitiable expression.

Qi Ying finally understood what was happening.

That silver beast was most likely the little thing’s mother or father.

It had somehow been severely wounded, and was on the brink of death.

The little thing must have fed him that many fruits in the hope that he would be able to attend to and cure the silver beast.

“You’re a really good child… Let me have a look…”

Qi Ying squatted down and patted the little thing on the head, upon which the latter moved away to allow him to operate on the beast.

Seeing as the little thing had helped him, he was going to try his best to return the favor!

Qi Ying turned to the silver beast, to discover that it was in an extremely feeble and unconscious state. It appeared that it had lost a lot of blood, and not only was the wound on its neck very deep, the green light emanating from within was most likely some kind of toxin, which was severely eroding its internal organs.

Qi Ying had done a lot of hunting in the past, so he basically qualified as half a veterinarian. At the very least, he could diagnose the symptoms of all of the beasts back on the Nameless Mountain. Thus, he laid his right hand on one of the beast’s forelegs, so he could assess its pulse.

Moments later.

After a short while, Qi Ying’s expression stirred slightly.

As he had expected, the silver beast’s wounds weren’t actually life-threatening. However, the green toxins in its body were extremely lethal, and were constantly repressing its recovery ability. At the same time, the poison was paralyzing its organs and tissues, as well as leeching away its energy.

If it were left untreated, it wouldn’t be long before it died.

If he wanted to save it, he would have to clear out the toxins within its body!

A smile appeared on Qi Ying’s face.

He would have had some trouble if it were some other type of ailment, but a poison-induced condition was far too easy for him to cure.

Qi Ying leaned down and pressed his mouth against the silver beast’s wound, upon which a putrid scent invaded his nostrils. The wound was clearly fresh, but the effects of the toxins made it smell like rotting flesh. Qi Ying furrowed his brows and began to suck out the toxins in the beast’s bloodstream.

Gulp! Gulp!

Thankfully, the silver beast’s blood was quite powerful, and it managed to restrict the infection to an isolated part of its body. Otherwise, its entire body would have already rotten away. The toxins were mainly built up near its spine, thereby paralyzing it from the neck down, which was why it had been completely immobilized and could only lie on the ground.

As Qi Ying sucked out the poison, all …

Chapter 155: Another One

Qi Ying grabbed the fruit from the little thing’s paws with his teeth and bit down. The fruit was very cold, and he could feel it quickly melting in his mouth. As such, he hurriedly spat out the core before it could melt, and swallowed the rest of the liquid.

The essence of the fruit flowed into Qi Ying’s body.

An extremely cool and refreshing sensation immediately spread through his meridians.

It was as if there was a frosty flow of energy that was surging through his veins, giving him a peculiar sense of satisfaction.

However, that sensation soon disappeared.

It was only a tiny little fruit after all, and the substance it contained was limited.

Even so, Qi Ying could sense that it had benefited his body.

His True Energy was flowing in a smoother and more stable manner, and the eight energy vortexes in his dantian were rotating more consistently as well.

‘These fruits can fortify my cultivation base!’

Qi Ying’s eyes lit up.

His rate of progression had always been very fast, and even though he tried his best to fortify his cultivation base, he was only able to maintain a baseline level of stability, where his energy vortexes wouldn’t collapse or go into complete chaos.

Unleashing battle techniques expended True Energy at a very fast rate for him, and part of that was due to the fact that his energy vortexes were not very stable nor consistent.

If he could consume more of those fruits, then it would be greatly beneficial to him.

More stable energy vortexes would result in better stamina in battle, which could prove to be the difference between life and death.

“I still want more!”

Qi Ying smiled as he said to the little thing in his hands.

“Scree scree!”

The little thing sprang into the air again, and returned with a fruit from the tree in no time.

On that occasion, Qi Ying swallowed the entire fruit, even the core.

“Scree scree!”

The little things cried urgently upon seeing Qi Ying fail to spit out the core.

‘Could it be that the core is not supposed to be consumed?’

Qi Ying’s brows furrowed as he unleashed his internal inspection skill.

The flesh and skin of the fruit quickly broke down, giving him that cool and refreshing sensation again, while further stabilizing his energy vortexes. As of the core, it was also broken down, and during the process, Qi Ying was stuck by a rather familiar feeling.

A burst of scorching heat spread through his entire body, most of which was absorbed by his left hand, leaving only a small amount of energy to be absorbed by his body.

‘It looks like the core of these fruits are poisonous!’

However, Qi Ying didn’t care.

He was immune to all poison!

In fact, poison acted as sustenance for him. He had done some experiments after his experience in the Ice Fire Ant’s cave, and discovered that all poisonous …

Chapter 154: Little Thing

There wasn’t any natural light in the surrounding environment, but Qi Ying was using his Purple Sun Eye, so he could clearly see that he had arrived in an ice cave! Even though his night vision was effective in a radius of two hundred feet, he still couldn’t see the walls of the cave.

He stepped forward, and immediately discovered that the ground underfoot was very icy and slippery. As such, he had to focus his True Energy to the soles of his feet to stabilize himself. He looked up to try and gauge the height of the cave, but the ceiling was also too far away for him to see.

The air within the cave was very cold, and a layer of frost soon materialized outside of Qi Ying’s robes.

After taking a cursory glance around him, Qi Ying continued onward.

There had to be some treasures in such a peculiar cave!

Even if the dragon vein weren’t there, it would presumably be some other valuable treasure.

Qi Ying made his way forward very slowly, making sure to constantly look around him as he advanced. After walking for about seventy to eighty feet, the surface of the ice was no longer smooth. Instead, it became quite bumpy, and even through his boots, the soles of his feet were struck by a numbing sensation.

However, there didn’t appear to be anything out of the ordinary, aside from the fact that it became progressively colder as he delved deeper into the cave.

All of a sudden.

A shadow flashed past in front of him again, disappearing in less than half a second. Qi Ying wanted to chase after the shadow, but it was simply too fast and vanished in the blink of an eye.

‘It’s that thing again!’

Qi Ying speculated that it was most likely some type of beast.

It had to be quite a high-ranking one as well, seeing as it possessed such incredible speed and could live in such a harsh environment.

Furthermore, it had appeared before him twice, but did not attack him, thereby indicating that it was probably not dangerous.

Under normal circumstances, special beasts always existed alongside some sort of exotic plant, so it was quite likely that there was something very unique that was growing within the cave.

‘Perhaps it’ll assist me in my cultivation!’

Many exotic plants and minerals contained True Dragon Energy, and even though they couldn’t enhance one’s aptitude as a dragon vein could, they could aid warriors in their cultivation by purifying their True Energy or Spiritual Energy, thereby enhancing their rate of progression.

Additionally, exotic plants and minerals could often only be found in very special environments, and the vast majority of them couldn’t be artificially bred. As such, all of them were priceless treasures of extreme rarity.

Even if the treasure in the cave couldn’t provide much assistance to him, he could sell it for an astronomical price in the outside world!

With …

Chapter 153: The Frost Cave

Qin Wen looked up toward the mountain’s obscured summit and said, “It’s often said that dragons reside within the clouds! This mountain should be the tallest one in the Dragon Metamorphosis Mystic Realm; perhaps the dragon vein is on this very mountain!”

Qin Wu offered a conflicting opinion, “The stories about dragons residing within clouds are merely legends. The dragon vein is embedded in the earth, so logically speaking, there’s a very small chance that it would be found on a tall mountain.”

“Who told you that? Let me get this straight…”

The two of them began to argue.

“Stop! How about we save the chit-chat, and have a look for ourselves?” Qin Mu pursed his lips as he pulled on his reins and yelled, “Giddy-up, horsie!”

Qin Wen and Qin Wu immediately followed along, and Qi Shun and Qi Ying also did the same after sharing a brief glance.

Fire Cloud Horses were Yellow Tier beasts, but they didn’t have any offensive prowess. However, they were extremely fast, and had astonishing stamina. Thus, all of them soon arrived at the foot of the mountain.

Most of the mountains in the Dragon Metamorphosis Mystic Realm had rarely been explored. There were obviously no paths cleared out, and the particular mountain they were facing was very steep and jagged. After arriving at a sheer cliff face, everyone disembarked from their horses and began to set off for the summit on foot.

“Haha! Let’s have a competition to see who can reach the summit first! No flying allowed!”

Qin Mu immediately sprang forward to secure a head start, and he had opened up a significant distance between himself and everyone else in the blink of an eye.

A confident smile appeared on Qi Shun’s face. “Heh, I’m no match for you in a contest of strength, but there’s no way you can outspeed me!”

Qi Shun also stepped onto the cliff face, leaving a deep indentation on its surface with each and every step.

“Slow down, young master!”

Qin Wen urged.

Qin Wu turned to look back at Qi Ying. “Are you going to be alright?”

Qi Ying replied with a smile, “I’ll be fine. I’m just going to have to take it at my own pace.”

“Then we’ll be waiting for you at the summit!”

Qin Wu accelerated up the cliff face, leaving Qi Ying behind.

Qi Ying shrugged and sighed, “I’ll just take it easy and look at the scenery along the way.”

He circulated his True Energy to the soles of his feet, and ran vertically up the cliff face.

At the same time, he took the opportunity to look into the distance around him, and from his vantage point, he could see almost the entire Dragon Metamorphosis Mystic Realm.

The mystic realm was far more vast than he had imagined. It was at least several hundred kilometers in radius, and boundless lethal winds blew on …

Chapter 152: B*stard Son

Clip clop clip clop!

Five Fire Cloud Horses galloped along the grasslands, and Qi Ying sat upon one of them.

The two Blood God Alliance members had gone off on their own, while Qi Ying stayed with Qin Mu and Qi Shun’s group.

Qi Ying wasn’t really interested in obtaining any inheritances. All he wanted was to get some useful treasures.

He was mainly looking for pills, but most of the pills that could be found in the mystic realm had already gone bad long ago, so there wasn’t much point in searching for them.

As such, it was better to travel with Qin Mu and Qi Shun.

Both of them were among the most powerful beings in the Dragon Metamorphosis Mystic Realm, and with them by his side, he wouldn’t have to worry about his own safety.

Furthermore, they were searching for the dragon vein, which was also what Qi Ying wanted to find.

Perhaps if they were lucky, they would all be able to find and obtain inheritances from the dragon vein.

Aside from that, Qi Ying also wanted to communicate with Qin Mu and Qi Shun, so he could get to know them better.

Mother Yu had told him to stay away from nobles as much as possible, but in reality, there were instances where interaction with such people was simply unavoidable.

Furthermore, Qi Ying wanted to ask Qin Mu about Qin Susu.

“Susu has been in a pretty bad mood recently, but she’s completely fine otherwise. She would be really happy to learn about how fast your cultivation base is progressing!” Qin Mu continued in his brutally honest fashion, “To be honest, in the beginning, I was also one of the people that thought you were trash, and didn’t deserve Susu. But then, I thought deeper about it, and realized that even though you’re only at the Eighth Energy Martial Stage, you had no cultivation base at all just a few months ago! At your rate of progression, I believe that you’ll be able to catch up to the Black Class prodigies very soon. Trust me, if you can tap into your potential and continue to become more powerful, many members from our Qin family will be swayed onto your side, so you better cultivate hard!”

Qi Shun chuckled upon hearing that, “Are you that eager to give your little sister away?”

Qin Mu harrumphed in response, “What give away? There’s mutual love between the two of them! Remember those fairy tales that we read as children? Many of them were about an underdog falling in love with a noble young mistress, and together, they overcame countless hardships to be together. Even though fairy tales are not to be taken seriously, I still believe that hard work will always pay dividends.” Qin Mu paused there, and a forlorn expression appeared on his face before he continued, “I wonder when I’ll have a woman to love me…”

Chapter 151: Heaven Engulfing Beast Battle Spirit

Two hundred armor-piercing arrows hurtled through the air, forcing Qin Mu and Qi Shun into immediate action.

“Dark Green Dragon, Dark Dragon Armor!”

“Heaven Engulfing Beast, engulf the heavens!”

The Dark Green Dragon above Qin Mu’s head suddenly coiled to form a massive shield above all four of them. Dazzling light erupted from the shield, and at its very center, a burst of ripples emanated from the dragon’s head.

The two wyrms beside it also transformed into shields, and they positioned themselves in front of the Dark Green Dragon.

Behind Qi Shun, a projection that was even more massive than the Dark Green Dragon emerged. It was a little like a white tiger, but its body was over a hundred feet in length, and its mouth could open up to swallow a grown man whole.

Within the white tiger’s cavernous mouth, there was what appeared to be a bottomless black hole.

A powerful burst of suction force suddenly appeared, and almost half of the oncoming arrows were drawn away from their original trajectories as a result.

The remaining half were further away from the white tiger projection, so they weren’t affected as severely, and continued to fly through the air.

Bam bam!

One hundred armor-piercing arrows fell upon the two smaller wyrm shields. After taking roughly fifty arrows, the two shields disappeared and both Qin Wen and Qin Wu coughed up mouthfuls of blood.

The remaining fifty arrows struck the Dark Green Dragon shield, upon which the latter dimmed significantly. Qin Mu gritted his teeth and continued to inject his Spiritual Energy into his Battle Spirit, One armor-piercing arrow after another fell upon the shield, before then being shattered and pulverized.

“Dammit! His Battle Spirit is too powerful!”

Chu Bixue’s expression changed abruptly. Armor-piercing arrows were very expensive, and they only carried limited quantities. In particular, all of his subordinates only had two second grade armor-piercing arrows each, and if they were to use them on that occasion, they wouldn’t have any left! Furthermore, even if they did use them, it was quite likely that they still wouldn’t be able to take out Qin Mu and Qi Shun.

The Dark Green Dragon reverted back to its original form before letting loose a thunderous roar. Powerful soundwaves swept through the air, sending a bunch of First and Second Spirit Martial Stage warriors flying, and knocking the bows out of their hands.

“He’s too strong!”

“That’s only to be expected! Both of them are destined to become Earth Martial Stage warriors in the future…”

“There’s no way we can win!”

Morale was at an all-time low.

Chu Bixue gritted his teeth with rage. They had expended two hundred armor-piercing arrows, but they weren’t even able to put so much as a graze on their enemies! Furthermore, Qi Shun’s Battle Spirit was able to reverse the hundred armor-piercing arrows it had engulfed, killing Chu Qingshuang and …
